In-Show Narration Demos
I grew up watching networks like the History Channel and Discovery. Doing in-show narration has always been a dream of mine. While many shows have the traditional voice-over style, numerous shows have started taking the path of many commercials, aiming for a more natural sound. “Behind the Dish” gave me a chance to really be myself. The director wanted a voice that sounded as if she was sitting across from the viewer having a cup of coffee, discussing her culinary travels through the country. All the traditional points of the job were present, including making the script fit in the timing and getting the energy right. Like promos and legal tags, timing is everything, and I have an innate ability to shave seconds off or give the script some breath which makes for a quick, smooth session.
The in-show narration voice brings the viewers deeper into the experience and captures their interests throughout the episode, bringing them back for more. A good narrator is invested in the story and delivers it with conviction and authenticity. Having years of acting training, I am able to connect with the story and find the real voice behind the narration.
